What’s important to us
“Leadership” is a complex, multi-faceted and frequently misunderstood subject, and is particularly relevant today. Much of the crisis in confidence in the business world and many of the recent failures (both corporate and regulatory) can be attributed directly to the adverse impact of inappropriate culture in key organisations and to the absence of effective leadership at all levels in detecting and managing the resultant systemic risks.
In order to be good leaders, people need to learn and to develop continually throughout their careers in ways that are not necessarily related to their core technical skills or background. Such development tends to decrease proportionately to the rise up the career ladder. It’s important to foster the inclination towards continuous learning early in a career, so as to maximize the pool of leaders with wide horizons. It has never been more important to invest in training executives and professionals in the area of “leadership”.
Yet, leadership is not about hierarchy or functional position. Leaders are not born … nor are they simply created. It’s much more complicated than that. Vincerò can help you unlock that complexity.
Teams and the cohesion of teamwork can be a powerful driver of superior performance. In building teams, however, it is too often assumed that collecting the best individuals is what is required. Sometimes, that works … but it ignores the vital impact of team dynamics on collective output and such an approach may, in fact, be self-defeating. We only have to look at the performance of some of our sporting teams to see this illustrated. Individuals behave differently in groups and the ‘collective dynamics’ can have an adverse impact on individual behaviour and on team performance. Understanding both individual and group motivation and the various influences on team members and the group as a whole is a vital pre-requisite to building and sustaining high performing teams.
